Decks, verandas & outdoor living

Rooms without
walls.

In this climate the deck is where life happens. We build hardwood decks, verandas and pergolas detailed to handle salt air and summer storms - and to look better as they age.

The service

Outdoor structures,
coastal grade.

Anyone can screw down decking boards. Building an outdoor structure that stays straight, tight and beautiful through twenty coastal summers is a different trade - and it is one of ours.

We build decks, verandas, breezeways, pergolas, walkways and screens in Australian hardwoods, with coastal-grade fixings and detailing chosen for the salt, sun and rain of the Northern Rivers and Gold Coast.

From a simple entertaining deck to a full veranda wrapping a homestead, the structure is engineered properly, the boards are laid with intent, and the details - mitres, fascias, balustrades, steps - are where the craft shows.

Good to know

Common questions.

Which timbers do you recommend for coastal decks?

It depends on exposure and budget, but we favour dense Australian hardwoods - species like blackbutt and spotted gum - matched with stainless or coastal-rated fixings. We will recommend a timber honestly based on your site, not on what is cheapest to supply.

Do decks and pergolas need council approval?

Some do, depending on size, height and boundary setbacks - the rules differ between NSW and QLD. As licensed builders in both states we will tell you early whether your structure needs approval and handle the build to comply.

Can you rebuild or extend an existing deck?

Yes. We regularly re-deck sound structures, replace tired substructures, and extend existing decks and verandas so the new work ties invisibly into the old.
